Xavier School Grade 7's Site

HomeWELCOME!Jun 23, 2009
Thank you for visiting the official site for assignments of Xavier School Grade 7 students.

To make possible the continuation of academic work despite the suspension of classes, Xavier School will utilize this site to make information available to parents and students. When students come back to school, they will be held accountable for whatever has been assigned on this site.

While this setup is less than ideal, we have taken this option so that the suspension of classes will not unduly disrupt the delivery of instruction.

We ask for the patient assistance and supervision of parents, most especially parents of our younger students, to ensure assignments made available on this site are accomplished.

Take note that you need not have the site as a contact to be able to view the content. Should you have a question on an assignment, kindly post a reply to the particular entry you have a question on. Please follow this format for posting questions:

Student or Parent’s Full Name (Student’s Grade/Year/Section): Question

Take note that only replies to comments posted by the site administrator should be considered official responses.

The assignments are now complete.

Students were given a reviewer for Language and Reading. Here is an additional exercise, which may be printed. An attachment (filename: the wooden bowl errors) is to be answered. Answer key is also included (filename: the wooden bowl revised).
We hope this will be able to help you before the Quarterly Test.

THIS IS THE ANSWER KEY TO THE REVIEWER GIVEN TODAY:

Save the Wilbur

Mayor Nichols has talked about tearing down the Wilbur Hotel to

make room for a parking garage. This is a terrible idea! The Wilbur is an

important part of our town's history. We should preserve it instead of

tearing it down.

Today the Wilbur is empty and boarded up, but it was once the

loveliest building on Main Street. The hotel had comfortable rooms and a

terrific restaurant. Famous people, including two presidential candidates,

stayed there. Our town was proud of the Wilbur.

Is the Wilbur doomed for sure? Not if concerned citizens can find a

way to restore and reopen it. If you think the Wilbur should be saved,

make sure Mayor Nichols hears from you!

FOR 7C, THIS IS THE READING REVIEW QUESTIONS:

Literature Circle: The Wooden Bowl

For DD:

(a) How will you introduce the text to have an active discussion?

(b) What questions will you ask to keep the discussion going?

(c) How will you put the discussion to an end?

or CC:

Connect the story The Wooden Bowl to

(a) SELF        (b) TEXT        (c) WORLD

and make sure that you explain the connections that you will make.

For LL:

What are the Golden Lines found in the text?

What is the BIG IDEA or the universal life lesson that one can get from the story?

For AA:

What word or words in the story give us a mental vivid image?

What sense does it appeal to?

For WW:

What else? Words!

Look for words that make the reading quite difficult...(hmmm...That's why there are context clues to help you!)

                                   SANDAANG DAMIT

                                            (mula sa Pluma 7)

1.         May isang batang babaing mahirap.

Mayayaman sila.

11.   “Alam ninyo,” sabi niya sa malakas at nagmamalaking tinig, ”ako’y may sandaang damit sa bahay.”

21.         Sandaang damit na pawang drowing lamang.
